Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) and the Oxford University Press (OUP), in collaboration with Foundation Open Society Institute (FOSI) Pakistan, are delighted to announce the Children’s Literature Festival (CLF) 2012 for theChildren of Pakistan.
CLF 2011, held in Lahore, was the first literature festival for the children of Pakistan. The Festival has created incredible foot prints and markers of success. It is conceived as a campaign for reading across the country. It aims to promote reading, creativity, and critical thinking among children. The CLF is an exciting initiative aimed at luring children towards books, reading,writing, literature and much more. Studies show that a love for reading leads to children’s success in schools.
CLF 2012 will take place in at least 2 major locations of Pakistan, Quetta on 12-13 September and Peshawar on 14-15 November. It will feature talks and readings by famous children’s writers, provide opportunities for children to listen to their favourite books being read and discussed, attend classes on creative writing, learn about bookmaking, write book reviews, watch puppet shows and children’s theatre and films, and participate in many otherfascinating activities which will encourage children to read.
