Once upon a bustling morning at GGHSS Block 6, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, the Karachi East STEAM Muqablo got an extra spark of excitement, because Kitab Gari had arrived!Our team rolled in with a treasure trove of stories, hands-on STEAM challenges, and playful learning games, ready to transform the day into an adventure of curiosity and creativity. Students from different schools dove right in, laughing, experimenting, and discovering the magic of learning through storytelling and interactive STEAM activities. From building mini experiments to cracking brain-teasing games, every corner buzzed with excitement and “aha!” moments.But the fun didn’t stop there. Our Kitab Gari team also had the chance to connect with teachers and education officials, sparking conversations about the joy of reading and innovative learning. By the end of the day, several schools were already raising their hands for future Kitab Gari visits, proving that creativity, books, and curiosity are always in demand!A big shout out to School Education & School Education & Literacy Department, Government of Sindh – SELD for championing education, literature, and the culture of reading among students and youth. Kitab Gari - The Library on Wheels
Kitab Gari, also known as the Library on Wheels, has been on a mission since August 2019 to cultivate a love for reading, learning, and creativity. Stocked with over 500 books (and growing), including fiction and non-fiction titles tailored for children up to 16 years and their teachers, Kitab Gari brings the joy of reading right to the doorstep of underserved communities.
But it’s more than just a library – it’s a learning hub designed to engage children with a diverse range of activities centered around four main learning strands:
- Storytelling/Reading (Voice & Digital): Captivating children with tales that spark imagination.
- Arts and Crafts Encouraging creativity through hands-on activities.
- Documentaries/Movies Showing educational films to inspire learning.
- Board Games Promoting strategic thinking and collaboration.
With every visit, Kitab Gari creates a memorable experience, filled with fun, learning, and the excitement of discovering new worlds through books.
Mahol Gari - Greening the Future
In addition to fostering a love for reading, Kitab-Mahol Gari focuses on environmental education and action through the Mahol Gari (Environment Wagon) initiative. Mahol Gari promotes climate education, encourages sustainable practices, and actively engages children and communities in planting and greening efforts.
What Mahol Gari Offers:
- Climate Education: Providing knowledge about climate change, sustainability, and the importance of protecting the environment.
- Plantation Drives: Involving children and communities in planting activities, from small indoor plants to large-scale greening projects.
- Eco-Friendly Resources: Offering tools like water and sunlight meters, growth check mats, and carbon footprint trackers to teach children how to measure their impact on the environment and track the positive effects of their actions.
- Creative Workshops: Encouraging innovative solutions for environmental problems through arts, crafts, and interactive sessions.

Books, Inclusion & Unity at the Special Olympics Unified Marathon 2025
ITA Kitaab Gaari, proudly sponsored by HABIBMETRO Bank, was thrilled to be part of the Lakson Investments 10th Special Olympics Pakistan Unified Marathon 2025 by at Ocean Front, Emaar Pakistan! Hundreds of children joined us for a day full of storytelling, big book reading, coloring, and drawing. Children with special needs participated enthusiastically, and small gifts were shared as tokens of love and encouragement. Through Kitaab Gaari, we continue to inspire children and parents to connect with books, discover the joy of reading, and build a lifelong relationship with books and reading.

Starting July 19th, students at our PLP partner schools dived into an unforgettable two-week summer camp packed with hands-on learning and fun. Through interactive activities, games, and physical challenges, they explored vital topics like climate change, recycling, and personal hygiene.
