Kitab-Mahol Gari is an extraordinary mobile library and eco-education hub on wheels, brought to life by the Pakistan Learning Festival (PLF) under Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA). This vibrant initiative is a dual-purpose project combining the power of reading with a commitment to environmental education, aiming to nurture young minds and empower communities across Pakistan.
Kitab Gari - The Library on Wheels
Kitab Gari, also known as the Library on Wheels, has been on a mission since August 2019 to cultivate a love for reading, learning, and creativity. Stocked with over 500 books (and growing), including fiction and non-fiction titles tailored for children up to 16 years and their teachers, Kitab Gari brings the joy of reading right to the doorstep of underserved communities.
But it’s more than just a library – it’s a learning hub designed to engage children with a diverse range of activities centered around four main learning strands:
- Storytelling/Reading (Voice & Digital): Captivating children with tales that spark imagination.
- Arts and Crafts Encouraging creativity through hands-on activities.
- Documentaries/Movies Showing educational films to inspire learning.
- Board Games Promoting strategic thinking and collaboration.
With every visit, Kitab Gari creates a memorable experience, filled with fun, learning, and the excitement of discovering new worlds through books.
Mahol Gari - Greening the Future
In addition to fostering a love for reading, Kitab-Mahol Gari focuses on environmental education and action through the Mahol Gari (Environment Wagon) initiative. Mahol Gari promotes climate education, encourages sustainable practices, and actively engages children and communities in planting and greening efforts.
What Mahol Gari Offers:

Starting July 19th, students at our PLP partner schools dived into an unforgettable two-week summer camp packed with hands-on learning and fun. Through interactive activities, games, and physical challenges, they explored vital topics like climate change, recycling, and personal hygiene. The daily visits from Kitab Gari brought a fresh wave of excitement, with captivating books and storytelling sessions that ignited a passion for reading and unleashed their creativity.

In a lively session at Govt Elementary School Gulberg, students embarked on an exciting journey into the natural world, guided by the enchanting book “Hara Pata” by Bookgroup.
