The Khaliqya Awards are annual awards for promoting and recognizing excellence in children's literature in local languages and raising awareness about environmental issues.

We look for outstanding contributions to green values, responsible citizenship and positive social change as well as to creativity, imagination and inspirational reading for children.

The Children Literature Festival (CLF) committee will select one winner each year in both categories. Books may be submitted by publishers, although the judges may consider any eligible book that comes to their attention. The award in each of the categories will be comprised of a monetary award of Rs.15,000 and a framed plaque.

The Award will honour local writers to create culturally-relevant reading materials in local languages. The award is created to address the need for early reading materials in local languages.

Any book for young children (three through age ten) written in local language, published or unpublished transcript, is eligible for consideration for the 2011 Khaliqia Foundation Award.

The book may be fiction, nonfiction or folklore, as long as it is presented in picture book form and aimed at children from three through age ten.

Khaliqia Green Earth Book Award will be given annually by Khaliqia foundation for the best book (preferably published in the previous year) on environmental issues for children. The award is created to promote books that inspire children (three through age ten) to grow a deeper appreciation, respect, and responsibility for their natural environment. This is an annual award for books that best raise awareness of the beauty of our natural world and the responsibility that we have to protect it.
