Waqas is an Educationist, Researcher, Performing Artist, Storyteller, and a Photographer. He is the founder & director of a social enterprise named Deep Now that works for the provision of education through the medium of arts. He completed his MPhil in Education Leadership and Management from LUMS, and he also received Shaila and Tahir Andrabi Leadership and Service Award, 2020.Most recently he received Prince Claus Seeds Cultural Practitioner Award, 2023. He has worked on a documentary project that documented the history of folk toys in Punjab that is going to be exhibited on 25th of November in Lahore. He worked on a documentary for Lahore Biennale Foundation Virtual Museum titled, “Dastan-e-Urdu” the work documented 75 years of Urdu in Pakistan. Moreover, in the medium of Performance Art, he has been doing Street Theatre since last 8 years and conducting Performative Storytelling as a freelance storyteller. He organized, directed and produced short plays to perform at a public premise called Khokha Natak. He has worked with an author and translator Musharraf Ali Farooqi in the capacity of Program Manager of an Urdu Storytelling Program, Kahani Se Kitaab Tak. He started his career as an Educator at Sanjan Nagar Public Education Trust Higher Secondary School. He has served the school as an Assistant Coordinator PYP (Primary Year Program). He develops courses and curriculum focusing language and performing art-based for schools.

Pakistan Learning Festival is a social movement founded by the renowned educator-thought leader and activist, Baela Raza Jamil CEO of Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) and co-founded by the internationally and nationally awarded Ameena Saiyid, who headed a multinational corporation and pioneered ‘literature festivals’ in Pakistan; she is the Founder Director of the Adab Festival Pakistan. CLF’s growth is attributed to its open collaboration with numerous private, public, civil society organizations, foundations and development partners. CLF is the first national level largest learning festival with an outreach across Pakistan; it is ITA’s well known flagship program.
