The Faiz International Festival kicked off on the 18th of November at Alhamra Art Gallery on Mall road with a lot of enthusiasm and zeal, it was a 3 days event which concluded on the evening of 20th November, 2016. The festival included panel discussions, music and theatre performances to tribute to Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA) and Children’s Literature Festival (CLF) also had the delightful opportunity to present sessionson 19 November, 2016 atThe Faiz International Festival.
CLF focuses on reviving a culture of critical thinking and imagination by generating innovative content for textbooks and supplementary materials in classrooms in order to promote reading habits through multi-sensory experiences beyond textbooks and tests.
The following sessions were a joint conduction by ITA and CLF: 1. Theatre Play - Gogi Aur Jugnu ka Tamasha, 10:00 - 11:00 am 2. CLF Activities in partnership with Sanjan Nagar School, 11:00 – 2:00 pm
The CLF witnessed the presences of audience, by the Friends of Sanjan Nagar, Parents, LSK and other members from local community who attended the FIF. Highlights of the Program include:
This was a play put together by primary school children, they put in a lot of effort to make the play as fun as it was, the audience simply loved the performance.
Participants wrote letters and made painting and drawing as a tribute to Faiz Ahmed Faiz. Letters and paintings were expression of love and peace which Faiz Ahmad faz sb promoted throughout his life. This activity was greatly enjoyed by the children as it gave them a feeling that were a very important part of the event.
An interactive Book Launch –of “The Children of Light” - By Author/Illustrator: Fauzia Aziz Minallah Published by CLF and OUP 2016 (Primary School). Followed by Q & A.
Introduction of author Fauzia Aziz Minallah was done by a student of primary section. After introduction students from primary section presented performance on the book “The Children of Light” which was an interactive launch. Students, kids and parents enjoyed the book a lot.

"Since I Have been in Prison" by Nazim Hikmet, Turkish Writer (Grade 7)
"Zindan ki Aik Subha" and "Zindan ki Aik Shaam" by Faiz Ahmed Faiz
"Ghubaar e Khatir", Letters of Maulana Abul Kalaam Azad (Grade 9-10)
All these sessions were conducted by the secondary school, letters that Faiz wrote in prison were read, a discussion took place on how authors and poets are able to write so well when confined in the walls of prison. Famous poetry written by Faiz was red to the audience in an alluring manner, and finally letters that children wrote to Faiz were read.
"Mera Dard Naghma-e-bey sada" by Faiz Ahmed Faiz (Grade 11)
"Mera Dard Naghma-e-bey Sada" was sung melodiously by Sadaf Youses student of grade 11. Her voice cast spell on everyone.
All performances were commendable by the children in CLF at Faiz International Festival program, seeing such confidencein all the children was heartwarming. This was possible due to the tireless efforts of Sanjan Nagar teachers and 40 students from primary and secondary classes who made the event possible.
Idara-e- Taleem-o- Aagahi (ITA) team played a vital role in cooperating and supportingthe event. Life Skills for Kids (LSK) program students participated as audience with great zeal and zest. It was a wonderful event that was wrapped up with fun activities for all the participants.
