Fiction is a form of literature in which characters don’t exist in the real life and events taking place are entirely the authors’ imagination. Seems fun! Doesn’t it?
Well it is! That’s why I love fiction. Let me share with you the reasons for my love of fiction:
Here we go;
Have you ever thought of moving to an entire new place far far away? Well it’s so easy. You just have to grab a novel and you’re here; a new world.
Yes! You read it right. Fiction takes you to a whole new world. When you start reading, you find yourself in the world which exists in the book. The world is so different but yeah sometimes it can make you cry. Don’t get sad. Tears can be of happiness as well.
You ever get tired of everyone around you? Well you don’t have to lie. Everyone does at some time of their lives. So you want to meet new beautiful people? Fiction is the way for you!
There are books like john green’s Looking for Alaska (my personal favorite) in which some characters are really amazing. When you get to know about these characters you can’t help falling in love with them. That’s how I find new friends every day.
You know when I was in the first grade I used to think that the earth is a giant tennis ball. Frankly I recently discovered that I was wrong when I read John Green’s Turtles all the Way Down. In that book I read that the earth is standing on the back of a turtle which is standing on another turtle so it is turtles all the down!
What is responsible for this fun perception…? Yeah you’re right. It’s Fiction!
Hate the history class? Ever thought of studying history in a fun way?
Historical fiction on your rescue ladies and gentlemen!
In the historical novels you get to know about the feelings of characters living in the history. I read American civil war in Gone with the Wind. (Again my personal favorite!)
That’s why they say “Fiction is the repressed other of history”
Thank me later 🙂
Learning about the other cultures is always fun. But, is there a way we can learn about them by sitting in our homes?
Again fiction at your help ladies and gentlemen! By reading novels of authors from different nationalities we can learn a lot about their culture. I know African proverbs! No I didn’t go to Africa! I just read Chinhua Achebe’s Things fall apart.
So fiction always helps me in finding similarities with other cultures.
There are a lot more reasons. But, for the time being I’ll stop here and grab a book. I hope you’re going to buy a book too. Have fun reading it!
